GRID is a highly dynamic and scalable kinetic light sculpture by Christopher Bauder that is exhibited worldwide. In varying arrays, triangular LED modules are hung by their cables from DMX-controlled winches. This way, the system can fluently change shape and colors at the same time.
During the design process, different setups were pre-visualized to get a better idea of each configuration’s advantages and the visual impact it achieves. For reliable results, the kinetic system was thoroughly simulated within CGI software to be studied and rendered from different perspectives.
