Kyte
With the development of triangular OLED panels, Philips opened up a whole new field of possibilities in light design. With an excessive use of these new illuminants, White Void developed the interactive light installation Kyte, also known as Living Sculpture, for the manufacturer’s trade fair appearance in Frankfurt/M.
Spaced apart and enclosed by an aluminum frame, 36 individually dimmable light panels form a triangular module. Suspended at its corners via tensile power and data cables, 24 of them form a hexagon with a maximum diameter of 7 meters.
During realization, some 3D renderings were made to get a better idea of what different formations would look like, how light, reflections and material would work together, and how the installation´s shape would determine different lighting moods. To achieve this the lights were simulated with physical parameters as precisely as possible.
